| Biography |
Melissa Overton is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and speaker, known for her passionate
engagement and exceptional networking skills. She founded and manages MedicalTraining.me, a
healthcare continuing education safety, and The Overton Experience, a leadership training
company. With over 25 years of experience as a critical care nurse and educator, Melissa offers
lifesaving and life-changing training through CPR/BLS, First Aid, and Advanced Life Support classes.
As a Certified John Maxwell Speaker, Trainer, and Coach, she works with professionals inside and
outside of healthcare to connect, communicate, and develop strategies to ensure well-being. She
has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Triangle East Chamber of Commerce
Small Businessperson of the Year, Clayton Chamber of Commerce Key Contributor, and the
International Athena Award, which celebrate her leadership, innovation, and volunteerism.
Melissa’s initiatives, like Launch JoCo and the ElevateHER women’s conference, showcase her
commitment to professional development and community enhancement. Beyond her professional
achievements, she enjoys family, friends, and old-school hip hop
Before launching MedicalTraining.me, PLLC in 2013, Melissa gained more than 15 years of passionate experience as a critical care nurse and educator. She translated that enthusiasm into life-saving and life-changing training with classes like CPR/BLS, First Aid, Advanced Lifesaving and as a certified trainer, speaker, and coach with the John Maxwell Team.
Melissa was named the Jimmy Creech Small Business Person on the Year in 2019 by the Triangle East Chamber of Commerce. Recently, Overton received the Athena Award for her leadership and volunteerism especially in the professional development of other women. Melissa also recently received the 2021 Innovator of the Year and Leaving a Legacy Awards from the Clayton Chamber of Commerce for her leadership implementation and innovation of the Launch JoCo entrepreneurship program.
When not leading, speaking, connecting, and educating, Melissa enjoys family, friends, and shaking her groove thang to some old school hip hop.
